Hello there. This is Neil Scheinin (SHAY-nin), reporting from a small town in the overdeveloped suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
I launched Yeah, Another Blogger in April 2015 and have, with few exceptions, enjoyed writing the pieces that fill it. I have a wide range of interests (music; movies and television; walking around while looking at things; reading; and a bunch more). The content herein reflects that. And occasionally I try my hand at loopy humor, producing stories that leave the world of reality behind.
What else? Well, I’m a Baby Boomer who thinks of himself as being at least 25 years younger than he is. And I try to have fun as my earthly journey continues. Oh, and I give a big shout-out to my wife, Sandra Cherrey Scheinin. She reads my stories before I hit the PUBLISH button. Her eagle eye and editing skills have saved the day countless times.
(Please note that this is an award-free/tag-free blog.)
Welcome to the blogging world! There is always room for more voices.

Neil, enjoy your takes on things. When I first came across your posts I mean’t to mention that one of CB’s favorite writers is Pete Dexter. Another Philly boy. I was going to include a book piece on Cincinnati Babyhead’s page but I’ll stick to music and film for now.

Hi. I remember Pete very well. He was a columnist for the Philadelphia Daily News. After he left that paper he wrote a great novel that I’m sure you’ve read — “Paris Trout.”
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah. His early stuff centered around Philly. ‘God’s Pocket’ takes place in South Philly. Don’t know if it’s a factual neighborhood or not. ‘Brotherly Love’ is another one. I just love his work. All of it. They did a good job on the flick of ‘Paris’. Dennis Hopper and Barbara Hershey are fantastic.

Neil, thanks for the follow on my humble blog, which no doubt you stumbled upon due to a couple of posts on the Cape Cod area. The follow is greatly appreciated and you are warmly welcomed aboard. I have to say I was quite surprised at the extent of natural, wild areas on the Cape, particularly being so close to New York, Boston and plenty of places in between. We found the use of a bike was a great way to get around and see a bit more – might see that in an upcoming post. However, I should doff my cap to your greater expertise here as I have only spent 4 days on the Cape, nothing compared to your good self. MM 🍀

Hi there – Noticed a “like” from you on my blog this morning so thanks for that. Have just popped across to see what you’re all about and it’s been a lovely surprise – Refreshing to see someone who freely admits that what the world REALLY doesn’t need is yet another blog but for those of us who enjoy this world it’s a real joy when you find someone who is into much of the same things in life. I also write about music and film but that is often just the anchor that allows me to go on and write about other things, specifically the memories attached – Been known to have a bit of a rant but also been known to include pictures of my local area and musings about modern day life. I see you’ve been to see LA LA Land, as have I, and although I loved it, nothing for me could ever compare with the original Fred & Ginger, Gene Kelly musicals of yesteryear – Just can’t make ’em like that nowadays however so LA LA Land a very acceptable alternative.
Look forward to following your blog – Alyson
P.S. I come from the North of Scotland but I am finding a close affinity with my fellow North American blogging buddies so just goes to show, small world nowadays!

Hi.
Well, I look at other blogs (I looked at yours, for instance), and sometimes those bloggers reciprocate. Over time I’ve built up a sort of network that way. But it’s hard to maintain an audience — I find it hard, anyway.

It’s funny (or sad) but when I first got a notification, I thought the computer was saying, “Yeah, another Blogger,” like in a very blase, yeah, it’s another one, another blogger. I mean, just for a millisecond. But enough to distort reality for a second. A strange moment. So then
I became intrigued… 🙂

I think I’m the opposite of a culture vulture. ;-0 The more crazy life seems to get, the more I hunker down at home with a good book, or writing a story to escape the bombardment of false facts. I find fiction much more truthful. I like your blog, live in NE and get to Cape Cod rarely. But you are spurring me on to visit again soon.

Hi Neil, I have just read your latest post (thanks for reading my occasional ones by the way). And do thank your wife, Sandra, for her eagle eye! I too am transported by music. Also eclectic – love good classical and jazz. Sometimes reduced to tears by Spanish guitar pieces..I listen to it while I write too. Am trying to finish my present book before I fall off my perch (glue might be the answer!) I’m in my eighties (mentally fifties…) Do carry on writing – it’s great to spread the art around! Best wishes. .

Hi Neil
Nice blog. I also have an eclectic approach to blogging and it’s fun, although I wish I had an editor and proofreader on hand.
I was amused by your comments re no tagging etc. I recently wrote a post on that topic (Please don’t send me your chain letter) and one of my friends subsequently tagged me in a FaceBook reading challenge. It was proof that although she ‘likes’ my posts, she clearly doesn’t read them. It made me laugh.
I’m looking forward to reading more of your writing.

Neil, I hear ya’. I lived my first 18 years in a small town about 30 or so miles from the Canal, on the Bourne Bridge side and just a river crossing away from the Whaling City of New Bedford. Like most people, I guess, home was not the place to find “yourself” and wandered for many years looking. I won’t belabor that old song, but before returning we spent 30 years in the SunMecca of Florida.
The heat and congestion finally caught up with me and family health issues brought us back “temporarily”in 2017. We’re still here and not in a hurry to leave.
The man got out of the bog but the bog never got out of the man.
I know why you and so many of your readers love what you get when you go to the Cape. I recommend it for so many reasons but I hope your readers also piked up on the “don’t go in the summer” warning. Got there well before Memorial Day and stay away until well after Labor Day – as you know there’s only 2 bridges over the Canal, Bourne and Sagamore, and jams are legendary. {drop a another note at my blog comments and and maybe swap email addresses, then you won’t be able to say you don’t know anybody on the Cape. I’m not on the Cape but certainly am of the Cape.} Peace, rdh.
